Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is the water level measurement?
The ultrasonic sensor provides accuracy within 1-2 mm. It measures the distance from the sensor to the water surface and calculates the fill level based on your tank dimensions.
How long does the battery last?
With a Balanced measurement mode (4-hour interval), the battery typically lasts 3-6 months without any sun exposure or charging. The device enters deep sleep between measurements to conserve energy, and the built-in solar panel keeps it running indefinitely once it gets some sunlight.
How far above the water does the sensor need to be?
The ultrasonic sensor can't reliably measure distances under 20 cm, so it must be mounted at least 20 cm above the highest water level you expect in the tank. Leave a little extra clearance if the surface tends to ripple or splash.
Is there an app for iPhone or other devices?
The AquaTrack app is currently available for Android only. On any other device — iPhone, iPad, or desktop — just open aquatrack.co.za in your browser. Installing it from the browser (Add to Home Screen) also unlocks push notifications. Prefer not to install anything? Telegram alerts work on any device without installing an app.
Can I monitor multiple tanks?
Yes, you can add as many sensors as you need. Each sensor connects independently to your WiFi network and all tanks are managed from a single dashboard.
What WiFi does the sensor support?
The device supports 2.4GHz WiFi networks (802.11 b/g/n). The sensor needs to be within range of your WiFi router. 5GHz networks are not supported.
Is the sensor weatherproof?
The standard sensor has splash-proof housing suitable for covered installations. The Pro model features an IP67 weatherproof enclosure designed for fully outdoor use.
Do I need a subscription?
No. The AquaTrack app and cloud monitoring are completely free. There are no monthly fees, no hidden costs. You only pay once for the hardware.
