Why we exist, and what we stand for
I'm a tinkerer who loves diving deep into projects and figuring out how things work. This time, though, I wanted to create something that benefits everyone — a way to harness solar energy and give people genuine peace of mind about a resource they can't afford to run out of: their water.
A tinkering project that turned into something bigger
AquaTrack didn't start as a business plan. It started with a habit of taking things apart to understand how they work — the kind of project you build in a garage because you're curious whether it can be made to work at all.
This time was different. Instead of building something just to prove it could be done, the goal was to build something that would actually help someone else — a project that gave back rather than just satisfying curiosity.
The problem was close to home and painfully familiar to almost every South African household with a water tank: load-shedding cuts the pump, municipal supply is interrupted without warning, and the only way to know if the tank is running dry is to physically walk over, climb up, and look. By the time you notice, you're already in the shower with no water — or the tank has overflowed and wasted water you can't get back.
So the tinkering turned toward a real answer: a small ultrasonic sensor, powered by the sun, that watches the tank so you don't have to. No wiring. No subscription. No engineer required to install it. Just a sensor that quietly does its job, and a phone that tells you the truth about your water in time to act on it.
That's still the mission today: take something built out of curiosity and turn it into something that genuinely, quietly helps people — using the sun to do it.
What we stand for
